In the bustling hallways of La Causa Early Education & Care Center, Annie stands as a pillar of dedication and compassion. Her journey with La Causa began nearly three decades ago, and over the years, she has woven a rich tapestry of growth, support, and unwavering commitment.

Annie’s story began in a modest role as a teacher assistant. “My name is Annie, and I started working at La Causa 29 years ago,” she recalls with a smile. The center’s support and encouragement allowed her to pursue higher education, transforming her career from a humble assistant to a respected lead teacher and supervisor. “La Causa gave me the chance to go back to school and gain the credits I needed. It was a turning point in my career,” she explains.

Her journey wasn’t just a professional evolution but a personal one as well. Annie’s connection to La Causa grew deeper with each passing year. She reflects, “I found out about La Causa through a friend who was already working here. She called me and told me they were hiring. Now, 29 years later, I’m still here. It feels like home.”

Throughout her extensive career, Annie has witnessed La Causa’s remarkable evolution. From its early days to the present, she has seen firsthand how the center has expanded its services and improved its offerings. “I’ve watched La Causa grow, from its early days to the introduction of the charter school. It was incredible to be a part of setting up the new building, working weekends with other teachers to ensure everything was ready for the students,” she shares.

However, Annie’s time at La Causa hasn’t only been about professional growth. Over the years, the center has also been a source of personal support during her most challenging moments. “In the most difficult times of my personal life—losing family members, going through surgeries—La Causa treated me like family. They understood my needs as an employee and gave me the reasonable time I needed to recover, both mentally and physically. That support meant so much to me. I felt cared for not only by my fellow teachers but also by my supervisors and the HR department.”

Annie’s dedication is evident not only in her professional achievements but also in her personal connections with the families and children she serves. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have attended La Causa, and she takes immense pride in watching them grow up within the center’s nurturing environment. “I have my grandkids and great-grandkids attending EECC. They started in the infant room and stayed here for all 12 years. Right now, two of my great-grandkids are here, and it fills me with pride,” Annie says.

Her love for La Causa is palpable, and she attributes her long tenure to the center’s supportive environment. “La Causa has become a part of my life. I feel comfortable here, and the children, families, and teachers are like family to me. I’ll stay here until I retire,” she affirms.

Annie also highlights the standout features of La Causa that make it exceptional. “We offer so many services to families, like the Crisis Nursery & Respite Center, which is invaluable for parents in emergencies. Our curriculum continuously evolves to provide the best education based on the latest research,” she explains.

Despite her extensive experience, Annie remains deeply touched by the simple gestures of appreciation. “One of my most cherished memories is when the teachers organized a surprise birthday celebration for me. The kids sang ‘Happy Birthday,’ and it was such a heartwarming moment,” she reminisces.

Looking to the future, Annie dreams of further growth and expansion for La Causa. “I’d love to see us add more programs or even a second shift for families working overnight. Perhaps we could establish another center or a high school to continue supporting our families throughout their children’s education,” she envisions.

Annie’s story is a testament to the profound impact La Causa has had on her life and the lives of those around her. “It’s important for our families to know that when they leave their children with us, they are in good hands. We care deeply for every child and family that walks through our doors,” she concludes.
